1. Immediate power cut:
Before dealing with water ingress in the cable, it is necessary to immediately cut off the power supply to ensure the safety of personnel.
Ii. Check the cause of water ingress
Carefully inspect the causes of water ingress in the cable, such as poor sealing at the cable head, rupture of the outer sheath during laying, and water accumulation in the cable well, etc.
Iii. Removal of Moisture
Use dry cloth or absorbent materials to remove as much moisture as possible from the surface of the cable.
For the accumulated water inside the cable, professional drying equipment such as hot nitrogen drying or desiccants can be used.
Iv. Check the condition of the cable
Use tools such as a multimeter to check whether the insulation performance of the cable has declined.
If the cable has good insulation performance, it can continue to be used. If the insulation performance declines, further treatment is required.
